WiLL Pacesetter Profiles: State Rep. Karen Camper

State Representative Karen Camper of Memphis, Tennessee, has been one of the Tennessee General Assembly’s most valuable members since her election in 2008. A veteran of the United States Army, Representative Camper brings to the table her unique perspective on national security and the importance of service. In the Tennessee General Assembly, Representative Camper serves as chair of the Women's Legislative Caucus and is a member of the Judiciary and Transportation Committees.

In 2010, WiLL and WAND were pleased and fortunate to work closely with Rep. Camper toward ratification of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START). Representative Camper advocated tirelessly for New START by sharing her national security expertise on radio programs, publishing op-eds in the Memphis Commercial Appeal, and personally lobbying the U.S. Senators from Tennessee. WiLL was pleased to recognize Rep. Camper’s dedication to sound national security policy by recognizing her as a 2011 Pacesetter at our recent WiLL/WAND Conference.

Representative Camper is an active member of her community, serving on the International Business Council Advisory Board, member of VFW Post 11133, Founder of The Humble Hearts Foundation Inc., a Charter Member of Women in Military Service for America, and a Lifetime Member of Black in Government. This Veteran’s Day, we are proud to recognize Karen Camper for her outstanding legislative and military service.
